The conversation around the design is always a hot topic. Some collectors will love it. Some collectors will hate it.
Every collector will feel a certain way about it.
No matter how you feel, this is the design you’re going to be hanging out with for the rest of the year.
The design will be in Chrome, Holiday and then move over to basketball and football flagship, a Topps rep confirmed to me. Although, the background may adjust to look more like the jerseys of those leagues — that I do not know, but only guess.

One thing I learned while working at Topps is that you can’t really judge a card design until you have it physically in hand. It really makes a huge difference.
I remember seeing the 2015 design digitally for the first time and not feeling blown away by it.
Then when I held the cards for the first time, I absolutely loved the design — and the parallels even more.
I find this year’s design interesting. But I’ll reserve judgment until I get the cards in hand next month.
One common theme that kept popping up is that some felt the design is “boring.”
Something to keep in mind is the design has to work for the dozens of parallels and Chrome, given how cards are made these days. There are probably a lot of white borders in our future because of this impact.
It’s not a perfect science, but the designers do have considerations when coming up with a new flagship design.
Hopefully, we’ll love it once 2026 Topps Baseball Series 1 is in hand next month.

In other Topps news, LeBron James wore a special “23 NBA Seasons” patch for the first time last night against the Sacramento Kings, where he made his NBA debut. He will wear it for the rest of the regular season to honor the record.
Some of the patches will be put into special trading cards. The patches will be removed by the equipment managers, sent to Topps’ facility in Dallas where they will be authenticated by CGC.

I don't like the cutaway for the team abbreviation. In my book, the team logo already checks off the team box, so all the abbreviation does is take away from the photo while offering nothing of value.
